National AccessAbility Week: promoting accessibility and inclusion in Canada

May 28, 2017 kicks off National AccessAbility Week!

Our country’s diversity is its strength — and when we include people with disabilities, we create a stronger Canada for everyone.

As we celebrate National AccessAbility Week, we are reminded that, while we’ve made great strides in promoting inclusion for Canadians with disabilities, there is still much work to do.

All too often, we treat accessibility as an afterthought. We need to do better. We need to actively work to make Canada more accessible and inclusive in everything we do, because all Canadians should have an equal opportunity to fully participate and to succeed.

National AccessAbility Week, taking place across Canada from May 28 to June 3, aims to bring this perspective to the forefront for Canadians, and highlight some of the important initiatives our government and its partners are undertaking including work on new accessibility legislation.

Our goal is to promote inclusion and accessibility in our communities and workplaces, to celebrate our progress and to get inspired to further break down barriers.

To find out more about National AccessAbility Week, visit Canada.ca/Accessible-Canada or follow @AccessibleGC on Twitter, AccessibleGC on Facebook, and use the hashtag #AccessAbility.

Together, let’s build a more inclusive Canada!
